Diaphragm Wall is a reinforced concrete wall constructed in the ground before excavation;
constructed as normal cast in situ wall using under slurry technique i.e. generally
Bentonite or special polymers.
Used in conjunction with “Top Down” construction technique.
This technique involves excavating a narrow trench using hydraulic or mechanical
grab attachments to the hydraulic rotary rigs. Generally thickness of diaphragm walls
ranges between 300mm to 1200 mm and up to depths of 40 - 45 meters.
Diaphragm wall are commonly used in congested areas, can be Installed in close proximity
to existing structure and practically suited for deep basements.
DBM, have created in house capability of construction of diaphragm wall and have
completed many projects of diaphragm wall across India.
